Hello from the Isle of Skye

Post by Bits-left-over »

Hello. I got my ‘59 plate Titanium in Sept 20 & am just getting around to this forum. I’ve done a few things to it already:

Mondeo light panel with sunglasses holder.
Rear interior light (proper wiring loom).
Internal LED lights (classiccarleds.co.uk).
Fixed leaks from rear end (full interior trim teardown (except dash), inc seats, carpet & underfelt.
Refilled the gaps in the paneling seam compound (more leaks).
Boot lid teardown to install cable for rear camera (through gland).
Fitted new light switch with rotary knob for controlling brightness of dash backlight.
Fitted OEM mudguards.
Replaced front badge.

Current tasks:
Heated seats.
Roof bars (OEM but I need to come up with a way of preventing leaky roof).
Towbar (OEM bar & wiring+module).
OEM alloys for winter tyres (going to refurbish myself then get a pro to do it when I make a backside of it).
Adjust driver’s door (has dropped & rubs off rear door).
Illuminated sill panel removed & dismantled due to water ingress. LED strip repaired (cleaned & wiring resoldered) & I’m currently polishing the stainless steel to mirror finish (not going well).
Fix external mirrors (they operate ok but rub against chrome trim at window when closed).
Investigate sticking drivers lock mechanism (mostly experienced on cold mornings).

Have just found oil in air intake side of turbo :( Garage I bought from overfilled the oil so getting a syringe & tube to remove some. Injectors & surrounding areas on block are still surprisingly clean so don’t think there’s any issue with build up & turbo might be ok. Will get a remap done once my local indy is happy that engine/turbo is ok.

I’ve taken many pictures for the things I’ve done so will upload if someone can let me know if there’s somewhere for them to go.

Catch up with you in the forum.

Cheers, Paul
