Private plates

Post by Jdun5746 »

I've seen a private plate that I'm thinking I'll get, but I have my car on finance, will I need to play anything extra to them to put the plate on the car, seeing as it still belongs to them?

My finance is with black horse if that makes any difference?

Shouldn't make any difference as you own the plates and can remove them at any time, just check with insurance co to make sure they're ok with it first! (best to buy off the dvla too as their price includes the transfer fees, i think it's about £80)

So if they say a plate it £610 I won't have to pay £690 in total?
I was on regtransfers and I seen some what I thought were reasonable and then they add transfer fees and VAT :p

With dvla you pay the price shown, places like reg transfers buy the plates from dvla so you only pay for the plate

Just a thought, there's a £25 retention fee for the cars original plate but i'm not sure if it's included in the dvla price, if it's not paid the original plate gets deleted so worth checking if you want to keep the private plate when you get a new car
