aircon switch not working

aircon switch not working

I have a 2009 fiesta with a manual switch aircon. The switch dial turns but doesn't change the aircon function. Ford service centre said I need a new cable and also need to replace the aircon switch unit.

Has anyone had a similar issue? I think it's the cable that either broke or is just loose. Where or how can I access the aircon switch unit to check the cable?
