1.4tdci mk 7 egr blank 2010 plate

hi guys, iv noticed my fiesta is becoming a bit of a chore to drive at slow speeds around town/in traffic etc and its becoming a real pain in the ass.
seeing as though i am stuck in traffic 30 minutes a day its a bit rubbish.
I was advised by a friend to look into blanking the egr valve. does anyone know if this is a good idea? is it easy to do for the 1.4tdci engine ?
the car is running fine. except the stuttering when setting off slowly, and the idle isnt perfect.
any help would be much appreciated.
