Step 1

Removing grey trim

Pull the grey trim upwards starting from the front of the car

It is held down by 4 clips (2 either side)

Step 2

Removing lower panel

Under the stereo there is a small rectangular cover

This is held in by a one way catch at the top and a hinge at the bottom

Prise the catch open from the top

Step 3

Remove stereo

There are 2 torx screws and 2 hex head bolts under where the grey trim was

Remove these using a torx driver and a socket

Then the stereo is held in by 2 clips (these are roughly located behind the two buttons either side of the hazard/lock buttons)

Pull towards the rear of the car firmly

Screen is held in by 2 torx screws

Main unit is held in by 2 clips

Good guide! And the rest :)

The surround painted panther black looks good!

Get some pics of your motor up when you can too.

I don't think you can buy the unit on it's own.

You'll have to find a written off new titanium as they come with the Sony stereo.

It has however got a different loom and screen from the standard stereo and is made to be wired up to 8 speakers, not 6. Definitely possible though

Under the grey screen surround there are 2 torx screws and 2 hex head bolts. Once these are removed pull the whole stereo bit out and up from the bottom (You'll need to remove 'secret compartment cover)

Hi Ben,
I've just acquired a 60-plate 1.6TDCi Titanium which was gate-released on 23 June 2010, first registered in November 2010 but actually built in late May 2010. It therefore just missed the Sony upgrade effective from 21 June 2010. The supplying dealership has offered to swap the fitted Ford HU for the Sony console but has pointed out that the connections are incompatible. Your post implies that there is a solution, albeit one which may mean some fairly radical surgery! I'd be grateful for your views/advice.

Thanks,
Culin

Hi Culin

Yes I believe that is correct. I know of a couple of people who have done this. I will try track down the thread when I'm home later

Thanks, Ben.

As you have a personalised plate (great car, by the way), can you help with query I posted on change of numberplate (General forum)?
